My studio gear, instruments, and software.

I get asked a lot about my setup for music production and development. Here's a rundown of the gear I use in my studio and the tools I rely on for coding.

Interfaces

  • Avid Carbon

Pro Tools HDX quality without the HD hardware. Pristine conversion and rock-solid integration with Pro Tools for mixing sessions.

  • RME UFX III

The Swiss army knife of interfaces. Incredible preamps, routing flexibility, and drivers that just work.

  • Universal Audio Apollo Twin X

UAD processing for tracking through vintage emulations with near-zero latency. Great for mobile setups.

Outboard Gear

  • Neve 1073

The holy grail of preamps. That classic British sound with the musical EQ that just makes everything sound like a record.

  • Universal Audio 1176

The fastest compressor in the game. Essential for vocals, drums, and pretty much anything that needs punch and presence.

Controllers & Instruments

  • Akai MPC X

The centerpiece of my production setup. Standalone workflow means I can make beats without even opening the laptop.

  • Akai MPC Live II Retro

The portable version for when inspiration strikes away from the studio. The retro color scheme is a nice bonus.

  • Ableton Push 3

Deep integration with Live for hands-on production. The standalone mode is a game changer for sketching ideas.

  • Ableton Move

Ultra-portable beat making on the go. Perfect for capturing ideas anywhere and syncing back to the studio.

  • Rane Slate

Motorized platters that feel like real vinyl. Essential for DJ sets and scratching sessions.

  • Fender Stratocaster

My main guitar for recording. Versatile enough for everything from clean ambient parts to driven leads.

  • Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S61

Great weighted keys and deep integration with Komplete. Perfect for playing virtual instruments.

Studio & Workstation

  • Mac Studio M2 Max

The brain of the studio. Handles massive sessions with hundreds of tracks and plugins without breaking a sweat. Dead silent too.

  • MacBook Pro M4 Max

Desktop power on the go. Perfect for remote sessions, live performance, and producing from anywhere.

  • Yamaha HS8 Monitors

Flat, honest response that helps me make mix decisions that translate well. Paired with a sub for the low end.

  • Audio-Technica ATH-M50x

My go-to headphones for late night sessions and checking mixes. Comfortable enough for long sessions.

Music Software

  • Ableton Live

My DAW of choice for production. The workflow just clicks with how I think about making music, especially for electronic and hybrid production.

  • Pro Tools

When I need to do serious mixing or work on larger projects with collaborators, Pro Tools is still the industry standard for a reason.

  • FabFilter Pro-Q 3 & Pro-C 2

My desert island plugins. Clean, surgical, and the visual feedback is incredibly helpful for mixing.

  • Soundtoys Bundle

When I need character and vibe, Soundtoys delivers. Decapitator and EchoBoy are always in my sessions.

Development Tools

  • VS Code

My editor for web development and plugin coding. The extension ecosystem is unmatched, and Copilot has been a game changer.

  • JUCE Framework

The go-to framework for building audio plugins. Cross-platform, well-documented, and has a great community.

  • iTerm2 + Oh My Zsh

A proper terminal setup makes all the difference. Custom aliases and themes keep me productive.

  • Figma

For designing plugin UIs and website mockups. The collaborative features are great for getting feedback.
